Does your dog hate being left on their own?

This week’s Down Dog Digestible, the fifth in our Problem Prevention series, is all about teaching you dog to be happy staying home alone.

Dogs who hate being left suffer from separation anxiety. And although treatment for this problem is highly successful, it takes a huge toll on owners during the many months it takes to retrain a dog to be happy being left alone.

Prevention is better than a cure, they say

So this is one important area to focus on with your new puppy or rescue dog. From the start, practice short separations – even just shutting the toilet door can help. There’s much more information about how to do this in two of my books, Pesky Puppy to Perfect Pet and Help! How to Socialise your Puppy During Lockdown, available from Amazon or the website.

This is one area where prevention isn’t just important – it’s essential.

You can find today’s Digestible here along with all the others from previous weeks.

We’ve got a brand new discussion group starting in September

We’re very nearly at the end of this Digestibles series – just one more to go – but we have something a bit different for you from September: our live, online Doggy Doctor Discusses monthly sessions where you can come along, learn more about our wonderful pets and ask any questions you have. It’s free for the first month (and for ever if you are one of our Devotees).

The first one is on Wednesday 8th September 7.30-9pm. Put it in your diary.

Keep safe,

Carol
