I have a confession to make

It's all too easy for anyone to forget things in today's constantly busy lives. Including training your dog. When did you last go out and deliberately train your dog to do something you want them to do?

Confessing to a forgotten lunch

Have you ever forgotten to do something?

I have. Here’s my confession.

Friday started off as a lovely day. Weather was gorgeous, I got lots done first thing then went for a lovely walk with Gus, Sandra and Laoise, even getting some German practice in.

In the afternoon I sat down to relax and I read a book. Feeling fully content and happy I made a quick tea for Himself and I then sat down in front of the TV to browse.

Then a phone call arrived. I saw it was from Cousin no 1.
“Hello,” she said, “Are you on your way?”

Cue that scary music from Phantom of the Opera. My heart sank. Not just into my boots, but all the way down to the bottom of the Marianus trench.

I finally remembered. During our manic Easter weekend, Cousin no 1 had called and invited us to dinner on Friday, just five days later.

And Himself and I had both forgotten. That appointment had vanished as surely as a snowman in midsummer.

Cousin no 1 was very nice about it and luckily the meal she had planned was not wasted. She had prepared a stir fry and was able to freeze the uncooked ingredients.

We apologised profusely and on Saturday morning Himself took round an enormous box of chocolates as an apology.

We still feel bad about it

Nowadays we have to write things down or we forget – and we’d both forgotten to write it down. We blame the chaos of our family Easter weekend.

It’s all too easy for anyone to forget things in today’s constantly busy lives.

Including training your dog.

Ever forgotten to train your dog?

When did you last go out and deliberately train your dog to do something you want them to do? Or do you leave it to chance and hope your dog will come back when you call, walk nicely on lead, not jump up at visitors and settle down quietly when you need them to? (Ask us for help if you need).

Keep training and stay safe,

Carol
