How everything worked out in the end

“Aargh! Oh no!” I screeched as my blurry vision cleared and I saw the time.

It was 9.25am and I’d slept in. I knew I’d set my alarm as usual. Himself swore I’d woken up and turned it off but I had no memory of that. (Himself got it in the neck for not poking me to make sure I got up then – he went back to sleep too.)

Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned.

I had so much to do yesterday. It was Daughter No 2’s birthday and I’d promised to make her her favourite coffee cake. That was planned for before breakfast because I then had a webinar to watch at 9am.

I leapt out of bed (well, I did my usual struggle upright, but leaping sounds better), sped through my toilette, threw on some clothes and rushed downstairs. I tried to join the webinar but couldn’t – I got an odd message to say it was starting in three days time. Putting that mystery to one side, I made the cake and got it in the oven by 10.05am.

I remembered to set the timer and half an hour later the ringing brought me back to check on the cake – only to find it was still runny in the middle. I’d managed to turn the oven on to the wrong temperature… I turned the oven up to the correct temperature and left the cake cooking.

Luckily it worked out OK and, once I’d cut some slightly browner bits off the edge and iced it, it was perfectly edible, if a bit rough looking. I also discovered that the webinar had indeed been put back three days due to sickness.

So the day improved and everything worked out OK in the end.

Do you have days like that?

Keep training and keep safe,

Carol
