Busy doing nothing

This week’s Talking Tip is all about the importance of being busy doing nothing.

When you’re being a busy person, working, playing or doing all the myriad of things we humans do, your dog is just watching you, doing nothing. Usually they’re just sitting or lying around just being busy watching you.

But it’s all too easy to ignore that wonderful calm behaviour and get on with the busyness of your life. Today, try to notice your dog doing nothing calmly and praise her when you do. Dogs that get rewarded for something do more of it, so it will keep your dog being busy doing nothing when you’re busy doing something, working the whole day through.

I’m off to try and get rid of the ear worm I’ve just given myself…

Keep training and keep safe,

Carol
