Happy June everyone!

It’s officially summer – though I think we’ve been enjoying summer for several days now. I’ve loved this glorious weather.

With the official start of summer, the forecast is for it to get much colder, after today though still stay dry. Mind you, if the dry weather goes on much longer Ireland won’t be a green and pleasant land but a brown, scorched one…
(I doubt it will stay dry for long here though.)

The year is definitely passing by at a rate of knots. Did you make any New Year Resolutions? What plans did you have for 2020? To advance your career? To run a marathon? To take up a new hobby? To train your dog?

My plan in January was to get my new Doggy Doctor book written by now, but it hasn’t happened – a virus got in the way – so I’ve been developing our new courses and grappling with online technology, luckily, generally successfully.

Though I did write one new book – Help! How to Socialise Your Puppy During Lockdown – (available from the website and from Amazon) to go alongside our Socialisation at a Distance course.

There has been a huge surge in people buying puppies during lockdown, which is lovely from the point of view of having time at home to enjoy that gorgeous fluffiness and cuddles. But a dog is for life not just for Christmas as the slogan goes, and it’s vital to make sure they get the experiences they need to grow up to be your perfect family pet.

Our Socialisation at a Distance course was developed to do just that and provide the practical ideas, help and knowledge to give you the confidence to raise your new pup to be the best pet in town.

It’s true what they say – time passes more quickly the older you get. I’m struggling to believe that Gus is nearly 8 and about to enter his senior years.

But time doesn’t stop for anything, not even coronavirus, and puppies who miss out on socialisation in those first crucial weeks may well keep my behaviour business going for years to come. preventing problems is so much easier than trying to solve them once they’ve arisen.

If you have a new pup, or know someone who has, you or they need to join the course. It will save you angst, time and money in the long run.

Keep training and keep safe
