If you want the best for your dog, you’re in the right place. Using games & reward-based training, we help you and your dog build a close bond so that you are the most interesting thing in your dog’s life and your dog wants to do things to please you
How Down Dog was born
I set up Down Dog Training & Behaviour in 2008 and we have since grown from strength to strength. Our aim is for everyone to enjoy, understand, and have fun with, their dogs. We’re a small team and we pride ourselves in putting you, our client, first.
I only wanted two things in life – to be a doctor and to have a dog. I achieved both in my early twenties. I joined a local dog club to learn how to train my dog and caught the training bug, soon becoming lead trainer. When I retired from medicine, I turned my dog training hobby into a business and Down Dog was born.
What are our core beliefs?
Our key values include being focused on our clients, honesty, fairness and thoroughness. This means you will always be treated as an individual, even in our group classes – we want to provide you with the help you need at all times.
That’s why we provide loads of free stuff on our website to help with all sorts of common training and behaviour issues, and give you information on common questions we’re asked about – such as housetraining puppies, dealing with puppy biting, the best filling for Kongs, how to entertain your dog when they are on strict rest and how to train dogs to love their crate, or a muzzle. And much more.
We dog training do we offer?
We provide small group training classes or 121 training sessions if you prefer, for puppies and older dogs, (see New Pup and Training tabs) plus specialised courses for separation problems and reactivity problems. You can also book individual help if your dog exhibits behaviour problems, either in person or online.
Take a look at our Online Academy, which has a number of self-study course on a wide range of topics, as well as details of our memberships. There are two membership options for clients, our Nose Nerds group which has a weekly online programme and monthly in-person sessions, or our Devotee membership which includes Nose Nerds and lots more.
Why not check out my blog where there are stories galore about dogs, about behaviour and about training. There’s even a section called ramblings and rants where you’ll find all sort of quirky stories and a few rants about things that bug me, such as people allowing their off lead dogs to run up to you and your dog – and what you can do about it.
Have a browse around the website to find more details on the services we offer. And if you want to see me in action, there’s a free webinar on how to choose the best dog for you here.
Happy browsing!
Keep training,
Carol
