What’s the key to dog training?

Getting help early with an unruly puppy or, even better, preventing problems through excellent socialisation and early training, means it’s much easier for you to have the perfect pet you want

“Hi there I have a 6 month old lab. He is becoming a nightmare with barking all the time, biting, not listening, and is terrible in the car and pulling on the lead. Would you be able to help, thanks.”

Does this ring a bell with you?

Do you know someone who has a dog exactly like this?

At six months, this Labrador has already learnt many unwanted behaviours, and although it’s always more difficult to change established habits than it is to train things right from the start, the sooner you start training the better.

Getting help early or, even better, preventing problems through excellent socialisation and early training, means it’s much easier for you to have the perfect pet you want.

The key to dog training is to start training.

Just start.

It doesn’t matter if they’re six months old, sixteen months old, or whatever age they are.

It doesn’t matter if you’ve got a new puppy or had your dog for ages.

It doesn’t matter if your dog has had other homes before.

Help them know what you want them to do and how you want them to behave.

What do you want your dog to do instead of biting and chewing?

What do you want from them in the car?

How do you want them to walk on lead?

Training helps you build your relationship, which helps your dog listen to you, which helps you teach your dog what you want them to do, which helps your relationship, which helps you solve problems, and so on.

Where do you want to start training your dog?

Need help with pulling on lead, jumping up, dog running off or not listening to you?  The next live Perfect Pet course starts on Saturday 20th Feb (next Saturday). This course teaches you how to help your dog become the pet you dreamed of, walking nicely on lead, not jumping up, coming back when called and lots more!

Recently bought a new puppy or obtained a rescue pup and want to help them become the best they can be?  Our Socialisation at a Distance course is all about how to socialise your puppy properly in lockdown, will tell you just how to make sure your puppy is comfortable with and confident about everything they’ll meet in our big, noisy, confusing world. The course will run next week over three days from 23rd – 25th February

Or perhaps you’ve been furloughed, or working from home but looking to get back to “normal” soon? But your dog is now used to you being there and howls, barks or eats your house if left alone? Our Serene Separation Masterclass starts on 3rd March. Over the three week course you’ll learn how to help your dog cope and relax when left.

Treat your dog to a new training course today – they’ll thank you for it and you’ll have a better trained pooch!

Just start.

Keep training and stay safe,

Carol

PS Please note all courses are online at present due to the current restrictions. We’re hoping to get back to in person courses perhaps around Easter – watch this space!
