Why puppies bite and what to do about it

In this week’s Talking Tip is all about that universal problem – puppy biting. Enjoy the video and find out why can it be a difficult problem to deal with and what often proves too tempting for puppies to bite at?

Who doesn’t love seeing new puppies?

I’ve been lucky enough to have been given some videos of young puppies, from four weeks old up to their current six weeks old.

It’s impossible not to melt at the sight of those fluffy, uncoordinated bundles starting out in their life. At six weeks old, the pups are outside in a fenced garden area with tunnels, planks, slopes, wobble boards and upturned crates. Loads of different puzzles and surfaces for the pups to clamber on and round, sniff, explore, tumble over and learn about – and to chew on.

That gorgeous puppy smell and the feel of that soft puppy fur – it’s no wonder everyone loves puppies. Until they start to bite and chew.

This week’s Talking Tip is all about that universal problem – puppy biting.

Some puppies bite more than others. We chat about why it can be a difficult problem to deal with and what often proves too tempting for puppies to bite at. We go on to talk about when it if often worse, how to deal with it and what to do next.

Finally – remember that puppies do grow out of their bitey phase!

You can find today’s Talking Tip here along with all the others from previous weeks.
