How to break your routine

Welcome to a new week in our Coronavirus Canine Challenge. We’re just entering the fifth week of lockdown with almost certainly a few more to come. I’m feeling a bit down and frustrated more than anything now.  I want to drive somewhere – anywhere – to go for a walk and I want get out and meet my friends and family properly again.

But at least Gus and running the group are helping me have some sort of structure and push to do things, so that’s good.

I asked you all last Tuesday to think about doing a short routine in the group, so I reiterated that request this morning. Please have a go. The only rule is that there must be five different things in it – tricks, or positions, or whatever. So you could do a sit, down, weave, give a paw, walk nicely at heel, wait or stay, leave it – anything you’ve taught your dog.

So go on, have a go – let’s see some dogs and owners having fun to cheer us all up!

If you don’t want to do that, then how about snapping up a copy of my new book “Help! How to Socialise Your Puppy During Lockdown”  from Amazon, with all sort of ideas for puppies and older-than-puppy dogs too. It’ll give you ideas for things to do to entertain yourself and your dog during lockdown – with the added benefit of revising some key socialisation factors.

If (when) you do read it, please leave a review on Amazon for me.

Keep training and keep safe,

Carol
