What’s your story?

Himself and Daughter no 2 had quite an adventure while I was teaching my online course last night. We’ve had problems with a mouse nibbling the corners of food packets in our utility room.

We’d left a trap down baited with cheese, but Cocopops and Branflakes were clearly the preferred delicacies.  Earlier this week Himself and I undertook the Herculean task of emptying the utility room Aegean stables – but no mouse could be found.

Last night Daughter no 2 was relaxing on the sitting room when she heard rustling from the utility room. On further investigation Himself and Daughter no 2 discovered something wriggling inside the crisp packets bag. Himself grabbed the bag and rushed outside, where he tipped the bag up – and a mouse ran away down the ramp, straight at Daughter no 2, who would definitely have leapt on a chair had there been one around. The mouse, more scared by her than she was of it, ran back towards the utility room where only some nifty fielding by Himself prevented it getting back in. Finally, they chivvied it away down the ramp, hopefully to end once and for all the attacks on our food – or at least until the next mouse…

I still have stories like this to tell about our lives, even in lockdown. You will too.

For Tell Tails Thursday this week I’ve asked you to tell us stories about why you got the breed of dog you have. I’m always curious about this as there are often some wonderful stories behind choice of breed for people.

I told the story of why I have collies in today’s live video. Claire commented that she’s a GSD girl because she loves their looks and when she got her first one, she wanted a dog that would make her feel protected.

What’s your story? Do you have the breed you have because your family always had that breed? Did you choose your dog for their looks or their abilities?

We humans are programmed to love stories and I certainly do. Reading is my main relaxation and as things settle down a bit I’m hoping to get through the stock of books I have waiting. I’m never bored when I’ve got a book to read.

So come on, share your choice of dog breed story.

Keep training and keep safe,

Carol
