How to avoid making the five big mistakes with your puppy

When I had my first baby (many moons ago now, but I remember it so clearly), like all new parents I was determined to get it right. My child would be perfect because I’d follow the finest advice to the letter.

I also remember the first time I said “Because I said so” in just the exasperated way my mum had done…

Getting it right with your new baby is so difficult.

It’s much the same when you get a new puppy. You’re determined to do everything just right, so you end up with the perfect pet you always wanted.

But getting it right and avoiding mistakes with your new puppy is also hard. That’s why I wrote Pesky Puppy to Perfect Pet – to give you a blue print to follow.

Even after 6 puppies or rescue dogs I still make some mistakes. My second book, Chaos to Calmish: Diary of a Pesky Puppy’s First Year, tells of the successes I had and of the things I got wrong with Gus.

There are five big mistakes you must avoid with a new puppy:
– socialisation mistakes
– house training mistakes
– dealing with biting the wrong way
– handling mistakes and
– feeding mistakes

If you want help with your own pesky puppy, why not book onto one of our Perfect Pet courses at either Bangor or Kircubbin?

We’ll help you get it right from the start so you can raise the Perfect Pet of your dreams.

Keep training!
