Treat your dog to some treats
If you’re thinking of celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee then why not treat your dog to a tasty homemade dog treat? Here are some recipes from the Kennel Club:
Corgi Crunchies
Ingredients:
- 180g rolled oats
- 100g wholewheat flour
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 egg
- 50g peanut butter (NB: check it is xylitol-free)
Method:
Preheat your oven to 180°C/ 160°C Fan/ gas 4
- Add greaseproof paper to a large baking tray
- Add the oats to a food processor and blitz until they reach a flour-like consistency
- Add all of the ingredients into a bowl and mix until the mixture forms a sticky dough
- Flour a clean surface, and roll out the dough until it is 1cm thick
- Cut out your dog biscuits using a Corgi cutter, or a template
- Place the dog biscuits onto the baking tray and bake for 25 minutes until golden brown
- Leave to cool on a wire cooling rack
Platinum Jubilee Pupcakes
Ingredients:
- 130g wholewheat flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 50g olive oil
- 50g peanut butter (NB: check it is xylitol-free)
- 65g applesauce (unsweetened and unflavoured)
- 110g pumpkin puree
- 1 egg
Topping (optional)
- 60g Greek yoghurt
- 50g peanut butter (NB: check it is xylitol-free)
Method:
Preheat your oven to 180°C/ 160°C Fan/ gas 4
- Add the wholewheat flour and baking powder into a bowl
- In a separate bowl, add the rest of the ingredients and mix together until combined
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, and stir together well
- Add your batter to the cupcake cases until they nearly fill the top of the case
- Place your cupcakes into a muffin tray or onto a baking tray
- Bake for 20 minutes until a knife comes out clean from the middle of a cake
- Leave the cupcakes to cool on a wire cooling rack
- To make the topping, melt the peanut butter in the microwave for 30 seconds until it is smooth
- In a bowl stir the Greek yoghurt and peanut butter together
- Spoon the topping onto the top of the pupcakes once they have cooled
Queen of Hearts
Ingredients:
- 65g Greek yoghurt
- 1 apple
- 10 raspberries
- 3 stalks of broccoli
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 tbsp water
Method:
- Cut the broccoli and apple into small chunks (ensure the core is removed from the apple)
- Add all ingredients into a food processor/blender and blitz until the mixture is smooth
- Pour the mixture into the silicone moulds or ice cube trays evenly
- Leave the trays in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or overnights
Fit For a Queen Dog Bones
Ingredients:
- 300g wholewheat flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 carrot (grated)
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp Greek yoghurt
Filling:
- 40g peanut butter (NB: check it is xylitol-free)
- 60g Greek yoghurt
Method:
Preheat your oven to 180°C/ 160°C Fan/ gas 4
- Line a large baking tray with a sheet of greaseproof paper
- Add the wholewheat flour, cinnamon egg and Greek yoghurt into a bowl and mix until forms a dough
- Then add in the grated carrot and knead until it is evenly distributed
- Flour a clean surface and roll out the dough until it is 1cm thick
- Using your bone cutter, or a template, cut out the dog treats
- Add the dog treats to the baking tray and bake for 10-15 minutes until golden brown
- While the biscuits are in the oven, make your topping by melting the peanut butter in the microwave for 30-40 seconds until smooth
- Add the Greek yoghurt to the peanut butter, and mix until smooth
- Leave the biscuits to cool down on a wire cooling rack
- Once the biscuits have fully cooled down spread the filling onto one biscuit and top with another
- Alternatively, drizzle the filling over the top of the biscuits
Royal Cucumber Frosties
Ingredients:
- 80g Greek yoghurt
- 1/2 cucumber
- 2 tsp honey
- 1 tbsp chia seeds (optional)
Method:
- Grate the cucumber
- Add all ingredients into a food processor/blender and blitz until the mixture is smooth
- Pour the mixture into the bone moulds, or ice cube trays
- Place in the freezer for a minimum of 4 hours, or overnight

Your dog may love these delicious Jubilee bakes, but it’s important to remember to only give them occasionally as part of a well-balanced diet. Some of these recipes may not be suitable for dogs with nut allergies or other special dietary needs.
Top tips:
- Don’t overfeed treats – they should be an occasional delight
- Count the calories – don’t overfeed your dog
- If you use a recipe with peanut butter, make sure it does not contain xylitol which is highly toxic to dogs
- If your dog has any allergies, other health conditions or a sensitive stomach please consult your vet before feeding these treats
